Job Title: Medical Coder

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Remote Medical Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of either US (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS) or UK (ICD-10, OPCS-4, SNOMED CT) coding standards within a hospital setting to ensure complex patient records are reviewed, assigned through accurate diagnostic and procedural codes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to facilitate accurate reimbursement.
Job Responsibilities
- Clinical Coding: Review and analyze patient medical records, including operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes to assign appropriate ICD-10/CPT/OPCS-4 codes.
- Accuracy & Compliance: Ensure all coding complies with federal, state, and NHS/Insurance payer-specific guidelines to ensure accurate revenue cycle management.
- Documentation Review: Identify discrepancies or missing information in clinical documentation and query physicians or clinical staff for clarification.
- Reimbursement Optimization: Correct coding errors and resolve claim denials to prevent revenue loss.
- Data Integrity: Maintain high accuracy in coding, adhering to quality standards and participating in audits.
- Stay Updated: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guideline changes and compliance regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hospital medical coding experience (Inpatient or Outpatient) in the US or UK.
- Candidate must have active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) for US, or recognized UK equivalent.
- Knowledge of strong command of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Great Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, SystmOne).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify patterns.
- Candidates must possess a modern, functioning computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) capable of handling secure remote desktop applications.
- Must have stable, high-speed, and reliable internet connection (fiber/cable preferred).
- Backup Supply: Mandatory, verifiable strong backup power supply (UPS or Generator/Inverter) to ensure continuous operation during power outages.
- Working environment must be quiet, and secure, HIPAA/GDPR-compliant workspace to ensure patient confidentiality
