Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance Officer

Responsibilities:

• Carry out routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production machines and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on machinery.
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and restore equipment to normal operation promptly.
• Maintain and service motors, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, conveyors, and other mechanical equipment.
• Inspect and maintain electrical panels, control systems, sensors, switches, contactors, and related components.
• Monitor the condition and performance of production machinery to identify potential faults before breakdowns occur.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and equipment.
• Carry out electrical wiring, connections, and basic control system troubleshooting.
• Replace faulty mechanical and electrical components when required.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, machine breakdowns, repairs, and spare parts used.
• Work closely with the Production team to minimise machine downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Ensure maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with safety procedures.
• Maintain proper housekeeping within the maintenance workshop and work areas.
• Support the implementation of preventive maintenance schedules.
• Report major equipment faults and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years' proven experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Experience in manufacturing, flexible packaging, plastics, polythene, nylon, or related industries is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems used in industrial machinery.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Good knowledge of motors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, electrical panels, sensors, and control components.
• Ability to read and interpret basic electrical and mechanical diagrams.
• Good understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to machine breakdowns.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Good knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
• OND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage.
