Masons

Responsibilities:

• Lay bricks, blocks, stones, and other construction materials according to building plans and specifications.
• Mix and apply cement, mortar, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Construct walls, foundations, partitions, columns, and other masonry structures.
• Carry out plastering, rendering, screeding, and finishing works.
• Measure, cut, and position materials accurately.
• Read and interpret basic construction drawings and measurements.
• Ensure masonry work is properly aligned, levelled, and finished.
• Repair damaged walls, floors, structures, and other masonry works.
• Assist with concrete mixing, casting, and other general construction activities.
• Maintain and properly use masonry tools and equipment.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
• Follow construction plans, site instructions, and safety procedures.
• Work closely with supervisors, engineers, carpenters, labourers, and other construction workers.
• Report material requirements, defects, and construction challenges to the site supervisor.
• Ensure all assigned work is completed within the required timeframe and quality standards.

Requirements:

• Proven years of practical masonry experience.
• Proven experience in building construction, block laying, plastering, or related work.
• Ability to use masonry tools and construction equipment effectively.
• Good knowledge of cement, mortar, concrete, blocks, bricks, and other building materials.
• Ability to take accurate measurements and follow construction instructions.
• Physically fit and able to work for extended periods on construction sites.
• Strong attention to detail and good workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good understanding of construction site safety procedures.
• Trade certification or apprenticeship training in masonry is an advantage.
