Job Summary

Our law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lawyer Associate II with at least 3 years post-law school experience to join our dynamic team. As a Lawyer Associate II, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal services to our clients across a wide range of practice areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Nigerian law and a proven track record of handling diverse legal matters effectively.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients on various legal issues, including but not limited to corporate law, commercial transactions, real estate, intellectual property, employment law, and dispute resolution.
  • Drafting and Reviewing Legal Documents: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, legal opinions, memoranda, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Court Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as arbitration and mediation.
  • Legal Research: Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on complex legal issues, statutes, regulations, and case law to support legal opinions and strategies
  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs, providing timely updates, and delivering high-quality legal services tailored to their requirements.
  • Case Management: Manage a caseload efficiently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure that all legal matters are handled with professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other members of the legal team, including partners, associates, paralegals, and support staff, to deliver seamless legal solutions and achieve collective goals.
  • Business Development: Assist in business development activities, such as client outreach, networking events, and marketing initiatives, to attract new clients and expand the firm's client base.
  • Compliance: Stay abreast of changes in legislation, legal trends, and industry developments to ensure compliance and provide proactive advice to clients


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university.
  • Barrister-at-Law (BL) qualification from the Nigerian Law School.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-law school experience working in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Excellent knowledge of Nigerian laws, regulations, and legal procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is preferred
