Inventory Officer
Job summary
The inventory officer is responsible for accurately tracking, controlling and reconciling petroleum product inventory including PMS and AGO from receipt at the depot through loading and sales for the purpose of loss prevention.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
Depot Receiving & Intake:
- Verify waybill, invoice, other relevant documents, and quantity loaded
- Ensure the booking of received stock into the inventory system immediately
Loading & Issuance to Wholesalers:
- Support the finance team in ensuring “no loading without confirmed payment/credit approval”
- Reconcile daily loading report vs sales/AR report
Stock Control & Reconciliation:
- Support full physical inventory verification count as needed
- Prepare Daily Stock Position Report: Opening + Receipts − Sales − Losses = Closing
- Investigate all stock variances above pilferage, meter error, temperature, evaporation, etc
- Track slow-moving products.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare stock and loading reports
- Support internal audit and regulatory inspections
Loss Prevention & Coordination:
- Work with Security, Loading Supervisors, Depot reps and Account Officers to prevent theft/diversion
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience
- A minimum of a degree in a related field
