Interior Decorator

Responsibilities:

• Consult with clients to understand their design preferences, needs, lifestyle, and budget.
• Develop interior decoration concepts, themes, colour schemes, and décor plans.
• Select appropriate furniture, fabrics, curtains, wall finishes, lighting, accessories, and decorative materials.
• Prepare mood boards, design concepts, and visual presentations for clients.
• Recommend suitable furniture layouts, colour combinations, textures, and decorative elements.
• Source and coordinate the procurement of furniture, fittings, accessories, and décor materials.
• Visit project sites to assess spaces, take measurements, and supervise decoration activities.
• Coordinate with carpenters, POP installers, painters, electricians, tilers, upholsterers, and other artisans.
• Ensure furniture, curtains, artwork, lighting, and decorative items are properly installed and arranged.
• Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed according to approved designs.
• Maintain awareness of current interior design trends, materials, styles, and products.
• Manage project budgets and ensure materials are sourced cost-effectively.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality, functionality, and aesthetic standards are met.
• Maintain good relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Prepare project quotations, material lists, and cost estimates where required.
• Ensure project sites are clean, organized, and properly finished before handover.

Requirements:

• OND, or relevant qualification in Interior Design, Interior Decoration, Fine Arts, Architecture, or a related field.
• Proven years of experience in interior decoration or related work.
• Strong knowledge of furniture, fabrics, colours, lighting, finishes, and decorative materials.
• Creative mindset with excellent visual and aesthetic judgment.
• Ability to develop attractive and practical interior concepts.
• Good knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, Revit, or similar tools is an advantage.
• Strong communication and client-management skills.
• Good project coordination and organizational abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work within budgets and project deadlines.
• Good negotiation and supplier-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple artisans and contractors.
• A portfolio of completed interior decoration projects is an advantage.
