Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain suitable/relevant company policy concerning all aspects of health safety and pollution prevention – SMS, QMS and EMS.
  • Ensure that all employees (both offshore and shore-based understand and implement company HSE policies.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements of the SMS, QMS and EMS as applicable on both the vessels and shore side.
  • Ensure compliance with client safety program requirements. Leading response and follow up on OVID, Internal Client Inspections, IMCA and others in coordination with other departments.
  • Investigate client HSE related complaints and advises the QHSE MANAGER on cause of defects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable National and International HSE Regulations.
  • Prepare and review the shore-based and shipboard management contingency plans.
  • Ensure Lost Time Injuries (LTI) is reduced to zero throughout the year in all company’s locations and vessels.
  • Monitor the safety and pollution prevention aspects of the vessels.
  • Ensure adequate HSE resources and shore-based supports are provided on vessels.
  • Coordinate safety investigations of personal injuries, accidents, near misses, unsafe act/unsafe conditions and marine pollution incidents.
  • Maintain statistics and trend analysis data on injuries, accidents, , near misses, unsafe act/unsafe conditions and marine pollution incidents.
  • Coordinate the provision of Emergency Response Procedures, First Aid Facilities, Safety Signs, Relevant Protective Clothing and Equipment, Welfare facilities/support.
  • Identify safety-training needs across board (along with other department)
  • Coordinate and administer the SMS and it reviews. Ensuring that the SMS is established, implemented and maintained in compliance with requirements of the SMS by all departments, both vessels and shore-based.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with requirements of ISPS code and MLC as applicable.
  • Schedule and coordinate internal audits of the SMS.
  • Monitoring compliance with all aspects safety policy and training according to industry and legislative requirements.
  • Provide the interface with Registrars and Classification Societies in scheduling external audits.
  • Maintain Document of Compliance and Safety Management Certificates and International Ship Security Certificate eligibility.
  • Advise the level of threats likely to be encountered by the vessels, using appropriate security assessments and other relevant information.
  • Ensure the development, the submission for approval, and thereafter the implementation and maintenance of the ship security plan in consultation with the Chief Security Officer (CSO).
  • Organize periodic management inspection of vessels at appropriate intervals
  • Active participation in area emergency response team
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Managing Director or Senior Management.


Requirements:

  • The candidate must have HSE certificates inclusive of OSHA and NEBOSH and have minimum 2 years experience in the same job role.
