Job summary

Our client, a growing logistics and haulage company, is seeking a responsible, proactive, and safety-conscious HSE Assistant to support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental standards across its operations.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Assist with risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Monitor employees’ proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures.
  • Support HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training.
  • Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation.
  • Monitor workplace housekeeping and general safety conditions.
  • Support compliance with relevant HSE regulations and company standards.
  • Report unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to the HSE Supervisor/Manager.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
  • Promote safety awareness among employees and drivers.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of OND in Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in an HSE role, preferably within a manufacturing, agricultural, food processing, or production environment.
  • Good knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, risk assessment, and incident reporting.
  • Relevant HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or other recognized certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Good observation, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is an added advantage.
  • Must be safety-conscious, proactive, disciplined, and willing to learn.


Remuneration: NGN 90,000 monthly + separate overtime payment.
