Role Description:

This is a full-time, HYBRID role for a Head of Sales and Partnership – Merchant and Agency Banking at WayaBank. The role involves developing and executing sales strategies to grow merchant acquiring and agency banking networks across Nigeria, with a focus on revenue growth and market penetration. The Head of Sales and Partnership will lead and mentor a distributed sales team, set performance targets, monitor KPIs, and ensure consistent execution of sales playbooks. Daily responsibilities include identifying and onboarding strategic partners, managing key merchant and agent relationships, negotiating commercial terms, and collaborating with product, operations, and risk teams to improve offerings. The role also requires analyzing market trends and portfolio performance, preparing regular reports for leadership, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong Sales and Sales Management skills, with a proven record of meeting or exceeding revenue and growth targets in financial services or fintech.
  • Account Management experience, including building long-term partnerships with merchants, agents, aggregators, and enterprise clients.
  • Team Management capabilities, including leading, coaching, and motivating remote sales teams to high performance.
  • Robust Analytical Skills for interpreting data, segmenting markets, optimizing sales funnels, and making evidence-based decisions.
  • Experience in merchant acquiring, agency banking, or digital payments within Nigeria or similar emerging markets.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial, and executive audiences.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth, remote-first environment, with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are an advantage.
