WeLight is seeking a senior finance professional to lead its capital mobilization and fundraising activities in Nigeria. The role will focus on structuring and securing financing from a wide range of capital providers.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Capital Mobilization:

  • Lead fundraising initiatives across debt, equity, grants, and concessional finance.
  • Develop financing strategies to support WeLight’s pipeline of renewable energy projects.
  • Structure blended finance transactions combining concessional and commercial capital.

Investor Engagement:

  • Build and manage relationships with DFIs, impact investors, commercial lenders, and grant providers.
  • Lead investor outreach, pitch preparation, and negotiation of financing terms.
  • Represent WeLight in discussions with investors, climate funds, and development partners. 

Financial Structuring:

  • Design and structure project finance and portfolio financing solutions.
  • Develop financial models, investment memos, and financing proposals.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes with lenders, investors, and advisors.

Strategic Partnerships:

  • Identify and develop partnerships with organizations supporting energy access and climate finance.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and sector stakeholders to unlock financing opportunities.

Internal Coordination:

  • Work closely with WeLight’s executive team, technical teams, and project development teams.
  •  Align capital raising strategies with project development pipelines.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of MBA/MSc
  • A minimum of 8 years experience
  • Ability to engage senior investors and development partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage senior investors and development partners
  • Strong strategic thinking and negotiation capability
  • Understanding of the Nigerian energy sector and regulatory landscape
  • Familiarity with climate finance mechanisms
  • Knowledge of donor-funded programs and concessional financing structures
