Job summary
Our operations depend on reliable sourcing, efficient transportation, warehousing, procurement and distribution networks. As AMMC expands its regional and international activities, we are seeking a Global Head of Supply Chain to lead the development and coordination of a scalable, commercially effective supply chain across our operating markets.

Responsibilities:
Global Supply Chain Strategy:
- Develop and implement AMMC’s global supply chain strategy in line with its commercial objectives and expansion plans.
- Design scalable supply chain systems covering procurement, logistics, warehousing, inventory management and distribution.
- Establish operational standards, performance indicators and reporting frameworks across regional supply chain teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery reliability, reduce costs, strengthen controls and increase operational efficiency.
- Coordinate supply chain planning across African regions and international markets.
International Logistics and Distribution:
- Lead the development of international transportation and distribution networks for minerals, metals, petrochemicals and other traded materials.
- Build strategic relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, transport operators, port service providers, customs agents and logistics companies.
- Oversee logistics planning for domestic, regional and international shipments, including multimodal transportation.
- Support the coordination of export and import processes, shipping documentation, customs procedures and delivery requirements.
- Identify and manage logistics risks, including delays, route disruptions, cargo handling issues and changing trade requirements.
Procurement and Supplier Coordination:
- Establish procurement strategies, processes and supplier performance standards across AMMC’s operations.
- Work with sourcing, commercial and regional teams to align supply availability with buyer demand and transaction requirements.
- Develop relationships with procurement partners, distributors, service providers and strategic suppliers.
- Support supplier evaluation, procurement planning, cost negotiation and contract performance monitoring.
- Promote transparent, efficient and commercially responsible procurement practices.
Warehousing and Inventory Management:
- Develop a regional warehousing and storage strategy based on supply origins, demand centres, transportation routes and operational requirements.
- Coordinate the selection and management of third-party warehouses, storage facilities and inventory service providers.
- Establish inventory visibility, stock monitoring, reconciliation and reporting systems.
- Support quality control, material handling, storage planning and dispatch coordination.
- Improve inventory movement, stock availability and fulfilment efficiency.
Strategic Partnerships and Commercial Support:
- Identify and establish strategic partnerships with logistics companies, warehouse operators, transport providers and supply chain service organizations.
- Support commercial teams in evaluating logistics costs, delivery schedules, fulfilment options and supply chain feasibility.
- Collaborate with finance and executive leadership on working capital requirements, logistics financing and supply chain funding opportunities.
- Participate in negotiations for major logistics, procurement, distribution and service agreements.
- Develop partnerships that strengthen AMMC’s access to regional and international trade infrastructure.
Leadership and Performance Management:
- Lead and coordinate regional supply chain heads and relevant operational teams.
- Establish clear objectives, performance indicators, reporting procedures and accountability across the supply chain function.
- Recruit, develop and support capable regional teams as AMMC’s operations expand.
- Promote a culture of operational discipline, cost awareness, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Report supply chain performance, risks, opportunities and strategic requirements to executive leadership.
Requirements:
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement or operations, including leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex supply chains, logistics networks or multi-location operations.
- Strong knowledge of international freight, transportation, warehousing, procurement and distribution.
- Experience managing strategic service-provider relationships, commercial negotiations and operational budgets.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work across different markets, cultures and time zones.
Strong Advantages:
- Experience in mining, metals, minerals, commodities, petrochemicals, manufacturing, recycling or other resource-intensive industries.
- Experience managing supply chain operations across multiple African countries.
- Exposure to international trade, export and import operations, port logistics and multimodal transportation.
- Professional qualifications such as CIPS, CSCP, CPIM, CILT or equivalent.
- Experience implementing ERP, warehouse management, transport management or supply chain visibility systems.
- Established professional networks among logistics providers, shipping companies, warehouse operators and regional supply chain partners.
- Experience developing supply chain operations in growing or geographically expanding businesses.
