We are seeking a skilled and creative Furniture Carpenter & Furniture Design Architect to join our team. The successful candidate will combine practical furniture-making skills with design expertise to create functional, durable, and aesthetically appealing furniture pieces. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in furniture production
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, assemble, and install various types of furniture, including wardrobes, beds, tables, chairs, cabinets, TV consoles, office furniture, kitchen cabinets, and customized furniture.
- Interpret furniture designs, sketches, drawings, measurements, and specifications accurately.
- Develop practical and creative furniture concepts based on client requirements and available space.
- Take accurate site measurements and translate design concepts into production-ready furniture.
- Select appropriate wood, boards, hardware, fittings, fabrics, and other furniture materials.
- Cut, shape, join, assemble, and finish furniture components to required specifications.
- Operate and safely handle woodworking tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Ensure all furniture produced meets required standards for quality, durability, functionality, and finishing.
- Carry out repairs, modifications, adjustments, and refurbishment of existing furniture where required.
- Work closely with clients, designers, architects, and production team members to understand project requirements.
- Participate in site installations and ensure furniture is properly fitted and finished.
- Identify and resolve design, measurement, production, or installation challenges.
- Minimize material wastage while maintaining high-quality production standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and work environment.
- Complete assigned projects within agreed timelines and specifications.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in furniture carpentry, furniture production, interior furniture design, or a related field.
- Strong practical knowledge of woodworking, furniture construction, and finishing.
- Ability to read and interpret furniture drawings, sketches, measurements, and specifications.
- Good knowledge of different wood types, MDF, plywood, laminates, veneers, fittings, and other furniture materials.
- Ability to use woodworking tools and machinery safely and effectively.
- Experience with customized and made-to-measure furniture is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of furniture design software or CAD tools is an added advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good problem-solving and measurement skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work onsite and travel between project locations when required.
