Fullstack Tech Lead (Backend-Focused) - Contract with opportunity for Full-Time

Location: Remote

Hourly Rate: 15-25$ / Hour

We’re looking for a Fullstack Tech Lead (Backend-Heavy) to lead the design and development of complex, operations-heavy internal platforms such as CRMs, Inventory Systems, and Vendor Management Tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business operations into system workflows
• Architect and build scalable, extensible internal platforms and APIs
• Design and implement robust backend logic using modern backend frameworks (FastAPI, NestJS, Express, or equivalent) and task queues or workers
• Oversee API integrations, background job orchestration, and workflow automation
• Lead a small engineering team, enforcing clean architecture, code quality, and delivery standards
• Collaborate with UX and frontend teams (React and Next.js) for seamless product delivery
• Own the full lifecycle from requirements to architecture, implementation, QA, deployment, and maintenance
• Mentor developers, guide technical decisions, and unblock delivery risks.

Requirements

• Strong backend development background in Python or Node.js ecosystems
• 5+ years of full stack development experience with emphasis on backend architecture and workflows
• Hands-on experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, NestJS, Express, or similar
• Experience designing asynchronous systems using Celery, Dramatiq, BullMQ, or equivalent worker systems
• Solid understanding of database design, optimization, and migrations
• Comfort with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployments such as AWS, GCP, or Railway
• Experience building data-heavy applications, internal tools, and operational dashboards
• Experience implementing performant data tables, filtering, pagination, and large dataset handling in frontend applications
• Ability to guide frontend architecture, code reviews, and performance optimizations
• Strong leadership, estimation, and communication skills, with experience mentoring developers

Bonus

• Experience with workflow automation or event-driven architectures
• Experience with Dramatiq or modern Node-based job systems
• Familiarity with frameworks like refine.dev or similar admin or dashboard tooling
