Amqey is building a multi-service super app for underserved cities in Nigeria, combining:

Our platform shares wallets, identity, payments, chat, and operations across services.

We are now strengthening our engineering foundation and are looking for a senior, hands-on full-stack engineer who can build, stabilize, and scale real production systems.

The Role

This is a hands-on senior engineering role.

You will work directly on core systems — designing, improving, and shipping features that power payments, logistics, and everyday services used by real customers.

You will not be managing people at the start.

You will be building first.

What You’ll Work On

1. Core Backend & Platform

•
User onboarding & authentication (OTP, phone-based identity)

•
Wallet & ledger systems

•
Payments:

NIP transfers

•
Airtime, data, electricity bills

•
Internal wallet transactions

•
Transaction history, reconciliation & audit logs

•
Secure, scalable REST APIs

2. Super App Services

•
Errands & parcel delivery flows (ASEND)

•
Food ordering & vendor operations (AFOOD)

•
Ride & logistics workflows

•
Shared services:

•
Wallet

•
Notifications

•
Pricing & commissions

•
Chat / messaging (basic to advanced)

3. Mobile App Integration

•
Build APIs consumed by:

User app

Driver app

•
Vendor app

Work with Flutter / React Native frontend

Ensure performance, security, and clean contracts

4. Admin & Operations Tools

•
Web admin panel (Laravel or similar)

Order monitoring, payments, refunds

5. DevOps & Stability

Backend & Systems (Non-Negotiable)

Strong in Node.js + Express OR PHP + Laravel

MySQL / PostgreSQL

REST API design (secure, versioned)

Authentication systems (JWT, sessions, OTP)

External API integrations (payments, KYC, SMS)

•
Docker (real usage, not theory)

Mobile Awareness

•
Experience integrating mobile apps (Flutter, React Native, or native)

Understanding of mobile performance and API usage

Experience

5–10 years engineering experience

•
Has built and maintained real production systems

•
Comfortable taking ownership and shipping independently
