Job summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and construction environments. Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, equipment, and systems.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Install lighting systems, switches, sockets, distribution boards, and electrical panels.
- Install and maintain electrical cables, conduits, trunking, and cable trays.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs.
- Test electrical systems and equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical installations and equipment.
- Identify damaged or defective electrical components and recommend replacements.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with relevant safety standards and project specifications.
- Use electrical testing instruments and hand tools safely and correctly.
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, plumbers, carpenters, and other construction workers.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical work, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Keep tools and equipment clean and in good working condition.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report electrical faults, safety hazards, and material requirements to the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Proven years of practical electrical experience.
- Proven experience in construction, residential, commercial, or industrial electrical work.
- Good knowledge of electrical wiring, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and diagrams.
- Proficiency in using electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Good knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and comfortable working at heights when required.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Trade certification, apprenticeship, or relevant electrical qualification is an advantage.
