Data Processing Officer Job Description Data Processing Officers Operate Computers And Other Communications Equipment And May Perform Data Entry Work As Part Of A Larger Data Processing System. Being A Data Processing Officers Is A Very Detail-oriented Job Involving Many Repetitive Duties. In Addition To Inputting, Organizing, And Cataloging Data, A Data Processing Officer May Also Be Responsible For Performing Quality Control Checks, Identifying Job Problems, And Ensuring That Job Orders Are Completed According To Schedule. Data Processing Officer Duties/Functions/Responsibilities Organizes documents; prepares and codes data for entry into computer system. Enters data into system via on-line terminals and other data entry devices; verifies for accuracy and completeness. Investigates and reconciles any discrepancies in files. Answers phone; screens calls; responds to any inquiries or transfers call to appropriate office or individual; composes correspondence in response to inquiries. Maintains library of any reference material needed to ensure accurate coding. Files material into proper location. Assists with other work processing or other tasks as needed
