Job Description/Requirements
ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Create a detailed implementation plan for community engagement and work with ESOPP and the Ministry of Agriculture on Participatory Boundary processes.
- Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned community engagement activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with sustainable principles, standards, and good practices.
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of various action plans including RSPO, SIA, and HCV action plans.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of operational and strategic indicators related to SIA follow-up.
- Assist in gathering social data to support CSR Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Centralize evidence of RSPO conformity in community relations.
- Report and address with adequate strategy any deviations from external social principles and RSPO indicators.
- Execute the EPIC process, encompassing participatory mapping and social agreements.
- Actively deploy negotiation skills in mediation with community stakeholders and partners.
- Initiate and participate in communication and environmental awareness programs among identified stakeholders.
- Monitor progress of social and livelihood projects, and conduct socioeconomic studies as necessary.
- Develop and refine community-related procedures and handbooks as needed.
- Support the Nimbel Shaw partners and field teams to identify community entry points, and potential conflict triggers related to operation activities and devise mitigating measures where needed.
- Ensure proper implementation of compensation, grievance, and conflict resolution procedures with communities, maintaining accurate records.
- Develop and maintain a community stakeholder directory/log to include but not limited to key contacts in the community, local community-based organization groups, local government agencies, humanitarian workers, and potential partners.
- Prepare weekly reports on engagements as the team progresses and supervise basic pre-planting activities.
- Assist in the employment of semi-skilled and unskilled farm workers.
Requirements:
- B.sc Agriculture or other related fields.
- At least 3 years experience in project management, negotiation, and collecting relevant data.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Observation, active listening and analysis skills with the ability to make sound
- Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members.
- General knowledge of local and state government practices.
- Knowledge of local community cultures, leaders, customs, and practices through prior involvement in the community.
- Additional experience may substitute for some education.
- Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities.
- Must be computer literate with excellent report-writing skills.
- Required Languages: English. (Fluency in Edo Languages will be an added advantage.)
Note: The ideal candidate Must be a resident of Edo State, willing and able to travel up to 70 % of the community irrespective of the locations of concessions.
