Job summary
The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions, handling cash and electronic payments, and providing excellent customer service. The role ensures a smooth checkout process while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with company policies.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Process customer purchases using cash registers or POS systems.
- Receive payments in cash, card, or electronic transfer and issue receipts.
- Ensure correct pricing, discounts, and promotions are applied.
- Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve basic complaints professionally.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
- Assist with stock display and shelf replenishment when required.
- Follow company policies on cash handling and security procedures.
- Report discrepancies or suspicious transactions to management.
- Minimum of a secondary school certificate (SSCE or equivalent).
- Previous experience as a cashier or in customer service is an advantage.
- Basic math and numerical accuracy skills.
- Ability to use POS systems or willingness to learn.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work flexible shifts.
- Strong customer service attitude.
