Carpenter

Responsibilities:

• Construct, install, and repair wooden structures, fixtures, and fittings.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and measurements.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials accurately.
• Construct formwork and shuttering for concrete foundations, columns, beams, and slabs.
• Install doors, window frames, ceilings, cabinets, partitions, and other wooden components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment safely and effectively.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance of wooden structures and fittings.
• Ensure all carpentry work is properly aligned, levelled, and securely installed.
• Select appropriate materials and minimize material wastage.
• Work closely with masons, iron benders, welders, engineers, and site supervisors.
• Maintain and properly store tools and equipment.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow construction plans, site instructions, and health and safety procedures.
• Report material requirements, equipment issues, and construction challenges to the supervisor.
• Complete assigned tasks within project timelines and required quality standards.

Requirements:

• Proven years of practical carpentry experience.
• Proven experience in building construction, formwork, finishing, or general carpentry.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings and take accurate measurements.
• Proficiency in using carpentry hand tools and power tools.
• Good knowledge of wood, plywood, formwork materials, and construction techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good problem-solving and practical skills.
• Physically fit and able to work on construction sites.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good understanding of construction site safety procedures.
• Trade certification or apprenticeship training in carpentry is an advantage.
