Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and customer-focused Cafeteria Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy cafeteria and tuck shop environment in Enugu.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards, managing inventory and staff performance, and delivering an exceptional customer experience at all times.
This role requires a strong leader with proven experience in hospitality or food service management, excellent organizational capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a structured and fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the cafeteria and tuck shop to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Monitor food preparation processes, service quality, and customer satisfaction standards.
- Ensure operational procedures, policies, and service standards are consistently implemented and maintained.
- Coordinate daily operational activities to ensure optimal workflow and efficiency.
Inventory & Stock Control
- Manage inventory levels and monitor stock movement to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Track product expiry dates and implement proper stock rotation procedures.
- Coordinate timely procurement and restocking of food items, beverages, and operational supplies.
- Minimize wastage through effective inventory management practices and cost-control measures.
Customer Service & Experience
- Deliver and maintain exceptional customer service standards.
- Professionally resolve customer complaints, inquiries, and service-related concerns promptly.
- Foster a welcoming, clean, and customer-friendly dining environment.
Vendor & Supply Chain Coordination
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers regarding pricing, product quality, deliveries, and restocking schedules.
- Ensure timely sourcing and procurement of cafeteria supplies and consumables.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to support uninterrupted operations.
Cash Handling & Financial Administration
- Supervise cash handling procedures and digital payment transactions.
- Maintain accurate daily sales records and transaction documentation.
- Support reporting, reconciliation, and accountability processes.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of food products in line with approved standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness and operational safety standards.
Team Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Supervise cafeteria staff and coordinate work schedules effectively.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and operational support to team members.
- Drive discipline, teamwork, professionalism, and high performance within the team.
- Support staff onboarding, training, and continuous development initiatives.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare operational, inventory, and performance reports as required.
- Utilize operational feedback and performance data to improve service quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of BSC/HND in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Food Science, or any related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ managerial or supervisory experience in hospitality, cafeteria, restaurant, hotel, or food service operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Professional appearance with a positive, customer-oriented attitude.
- Experience with digital reporting systems and electronic payment platforms is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and operational compliance requirements.
- Professional certification in Restaurant or Hotel Management is an added advantage.
