Role Overview

The Aquaculture Manager will oversee all fish farming operations at Bloomsberry Farms, ensuring optimal fish health, high survival rates, efficient feed utilization, and profitable harvest cycles. This role is responsible for managing daily pond activities, supervising staff, and maintaining strict operational discipline across the aquaculture unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of fish ponds (stocking, feeding, water exchange, harvesting)
• Plan and execute production cycles for optimal yield
• Monitor fish growth, health, and behavior

Feed & Growth Optimization

• Develop and manage feeding schedules
• Track feed conversion ratios (FCR) and minimize waste
• Ensure efficient use of feed to maximize profitability

Water & Environmental Monitoring

• Work closely with the Water Quality & Systems Manager to maintain optimal water conditions
• Monitor oxygen levels, temperature, and overall pond health

Team Leadership

• Supervise fish farm technicians and support staff
• Assign daily tasks and ensure accountability
• Train staff on best practices and safety procedures

Inventory & Cost Control

• Track stock levels (fingerlings, feed, medications)
• Reduce losses from mortality, disease, or inefficiencies
• Maintain accurate operational records

Harvest & Sales Coordination

• Plan harvest timelines based on growth cycles and market demand
• Coordinate with sales/logistics teams for distribution

KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)

• Survival rate (target: 85–90%+)
• Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR)
• Average harvest weight
• Mortality rate
• Cost per kg of fish produced

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, or related field
• 2–5 years experience in fish farming or aquaculture operations
• Strong understanding of pond management and fish health
• Leadership and team management skills
• Data-driven and operationally disciplined
