Job summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage the financial records and reporting activities of a haulage company. The successful candidate will oversee accounting operations, monitor transportation-related costs, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and provide accurate financial information to support.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile bank statements and company accounts.
  • Monitor fuel expenses, vehicle maintenance costs, and other haulage-related expenditures.
  • Process payroll and statutory deductions.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
  • Track fleet-related costs and profitability by vehicle, route, or customer.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Conduct periodic audits of financial transactions and records.
  • Support management with financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.


Requirements:

  • Minimum HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or haulage operations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.
  • Effective management of cash flow.
  • Reduction in accounting discrepancies and errors.
  • Compliance with tax and statutory requirements.
  • Timely reconciliation of accounts.
  • Cost control and monitoring of fleet operating expenses.
