Account Officer
Job summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Account Officer to join our Microfinance team in Nnewi. The primary responsibility of this role is account reconciliation, ensuring financial accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate must possess strong reconciliation skills, financial reporting knowledge, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and internal ledgers
- Reconcile customer accounts, loan portfolios, deposits, and withdrawals
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly
- Prepare reconciliation reports and submit to management
- Monitor suspense accounts and ensure timely clearance
- Support preparation of financial statements and monthly management reports
- Ensure accurate posting of transactions into accounting systems
- Assist in regulatory and statutory reporting as required
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records
- Support internal and external audit processes
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures
Requirements:
- HND/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–2 years’ experience in accounting (Microfinance or financial institution experience is an added advantage)
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good understanding of financial reporting standards
