Job Summary

The Academic Bursar and Exam Officer at Merit College of Nursing Sciences will be responsible for managing the college's financial operations and overseeing all examination processes. This dual role requires a detail-oriented individual who can ensure financial integrity and maintain the highest standards of academic assessment.

Job Description/Requirements


  • Manage all financial operations of the college, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee student fee collection, financial aid distribution, and account reconciliation.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with department heads to prepare annual budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise all examination processes, ensuring integrity and compliance with academic policies.
  • Develop examination schedules, coordinate with faculty for exam preparation, and oversee exam administration.
  • Manage the secure storage and distribution of examination materials.
  • Coordinate the marking process and compile examination results for academic board review.
  • Maintain accurate student academic records and manage the issuance of transcripts and certificates.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to implement and maintain electronic systems for financial management and examination processes.



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ANAN, ICAN) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, preferably in an educational institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience in academic administration or examination management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and examination policies in Nigerian higher education.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and database management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with students, faculty, and administrative staff.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Experience in implementing and managing electronic examination systems is a plus.
  • Physical presence at Merit College of Nursing Sciences in Orlu, Imo State is required for this role.
