Job Summary

The Team Lead, Commercial strives for an optimized high-quality assortment for the lowest price in the market and understands that long term relationships with the suppliers are the key for this. The candidate is extremely critical on quality, pricing, margins, merchandizing, service to operations and assortment development.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Writes and implements the procurement plan, develops procedures, contracts and documents after approval by GM
  • Ensures all suppliers data, purchase prices (PP), sales prices (SP), margins, SKU barcodes, etc. are entered in the ERP system accurately
  • Acts according to the general procurement plan and ensures the commercial team act accordingly as well
  • Find the right suppliers (manufacturers; farmers; distributors; importers; agents) who are able to deliver the selected SKU’s for the best prices in the market and to deliver the agreed volumes according the time plan (JIT principle)
  • Develops, sources and maintains a well-balanced and high-volume, discount assortment which meets the basic needs of customers '
  • Tenders (new) SKU’s according to the tendering procedure
  • Ensures the buying of goods is based on the defined quality specifications and terms
  • Conducts market surveys to map out the suppliers and distributors market who are able to deliver the selected SKU’s for the best prices in the market
  • Prepare the supplier contracts based on the approved standard contract, incl. the parameters: name supplier, address, etc., bank account, volumes, layers per pallet, box content, prices, discounts, payment terms, marketing fees, logistic fees, etc.
  • Assures the assortment is based on the assortment policy


Requirements:

  • BSc in business administration, commercial, procurement management or SCM 
  • Over 5 years proven experience in (food) retail or in the FMCG industry
  • Experienced in building new assortment ranges, implementing category management, merchandizing rules and planograms
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong business acumen with a strategic orientation
  • Financial understanding regarding pricing, margins, price elasticity and P&L
  • Excellent SCM skills for daily ordering, processing the assortment and stock management
  • Strong bias to immediate action and resilient for managing the challenges
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Understands customer behaviors and the effect on sales 


Remuneration: NGN
4,000,000 - 5,000,000 annual
