As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for cost estimation, cost control, procurement, and contractual management throughout the project lifecycle. Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and other relevant information. Conduct feasibility studies to assess project viability and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Cost Control: Monitor project costs and expenditures throughout the construction phase, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints. Identify cost variances and implement corrective measures as necessary to maintain financial targets.
- Procurement: Manage the procurement process, including sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, negotiating contracts, and selecting suppliers/vendors. Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services within budgetary constraints.
- Contractual Management: Review and administer construction contracts, including subcontract agreements, to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. Identify and resolve contractual disputes in a timely and efficient manner.
- Value Engineering: Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs without compromising quality or performance. Collaborate with design and construction teams to implement cost-effective solutions and alternatives.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate project risks related to cost, schedule, and contractual obligations. Develop risk management strategies and contingency plans to minimize potential disruptions and liabilities.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with internal stakeholders, including project managers, architects, engineers, and external stakeholders such as clients, contractors, and suppliers. Provide regular updates on project cost status, financial projections, and procurement activities.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to quantity surveying, cost management, and procurement processes.
Requirements:
- HND/Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction cost estimation techniques, procurement processes, and contract management principles.
- Proficiency in construction cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is a plus.
