Job Summary

We are actively looking for a Project Manages that would be double as Technical Assistants to the Governor on SME Development attached to the Special Adviser on SME Development & Head, Enugu SME Center. Your primary responsibility is to work with the Enugu SME Center to initiate/plan, execute, and manage her projects from ideation through to completion while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within scope, has traction and meets outcomes. It is important that they can operate independently with little oversight from the Special Adviser.

Reporting to: Special Adviser on SME Development and Head, Enugu SME Center

Location: Enugu, Nigeria

Key Responsibilities

  • Create relevant high impact Business Strategies for the various projects and special-purpose vehicles across all programs of the Agency, which are (but not limited to)

    • Job Creation Schemes (Enugu Jobs®)

    • Access to Capital (Enugu Loans®)

    • Capacity Development Programs (Enugu Learning®) 

    • Access to Grants and Business Support Facilities (Enugu Hackthon®)

  • Identify and lead the end-to-end process, from concept to creation of potential project partnerships with both the private sector and government bodies;

  • The Agency will focus on promoting entrepreneurship by improving access to finance, strengthening the institutional capacity of MSMEs and formulating policies designed to improve the business environment in Enugu State. In addition, the Fund will also develop programmes designed to train and place unemployed Enugu residents in jobs; while also focusing on programmes designed to drive innovation within the Lagos ecosystem. Seeking project managers that would make this a reality

  • Prepare reports with clear insights on the progress of projects and overall performance from a business growth & management perspective. Ensure project is executed within the framework of the program as well as within the agreed budget

  • Prepare program  presentations

  • Manage projects across all focus areas of the Agency, end-to –end

  • Drafting of proposals, review of legal documentation. Strong skills in documentation review, legal documentation of proposal drafting  

  • Formulating cross-platform marketing strategy for all products of the Agency as well as engaging private sector, corporate organizations, development partners and agencies, development finance institutions, charitable foundations to raise funds for the Enugu Jobs Fund. 

  • Attend meetings as well as wider cross-functional sessions to learn the scope and responsibilities of each assigned project.

  • Conduct market research on opportunities and offerings to Ndi-Enugu , evaluate certain products and services and identify trends, patterns, and gaps/opportunities

  • Participate in and contribute to partnership meetings

  • Screen entrepreneurs and potential collaborators pitch decks/proposals, conduct interviews with entrepreneurs, with due diligence, and writing memos

  • Project manager is responsible managing debt portfolios of loan customers, assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, manage accounts of recalcitrant debtors to ensure repayment of loans 

  • Work in partnership with debt recovery partners (EFCC amongst others) and be involved fully in the debt recovery process in 

KPIs to measure success.

Skills and Competencies

  • Interested candidates should be multi-talented when leading a team and must possess both hard and soft skills. Having high emotional intelligence is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or its related subject areas. PMP Classes is a plus

  • Minimum of 2 years of corporate project management experience (a plus)

  • Strategic thinkers, innovative ideologists, with strong analytic skills.

  • Sufficient knowledge of finance and accounting practices and tools for success. - Budget forecasting, planning and execution is a very important skill that candidates must possess.

  • Proactive thinkers who can work independently when required, but can also take direction. Ability to work effectively remotely is a must

  • Proficient use of Microsoft productivity tools; Excel, Word doc, PowerPoint for presentations, analytics software.

  • Ability to plan ahead and multitask in order to meet deadlines

  • Successful candidates must be extremely numerate, possess superb MS Office Suite skills, and confident with superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Proposal writing. MOU drafting and effective presentation/communication skills are a must-have for candidates vying to apply.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Candidates should possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Teamwork: a show of strong intradepartmental relations among teams. I.e  ability to work well among teams across the board; within and outside scope and departments ‘
