Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Loan Collections & Repayment Monitoring
- Conduct regular field visits to assigned SME loan customers to monitor repayment performance.
- Ensure customers’ daily or periodic business proceeds are remitted into their Wema Bank accounts as agreed.
- Follow up promptly on due and overdue loan repayments to maintain a high-quality loan portfolio.
- Implement recovery actions on delinquent or non-performing accounts in line with Wema Bank’s policies.
- Collaborate with Credit Risk and SME Relationship Managers to address early warning signals and delinquency trends.
2. Business Monitoring & Field Verification
- Visit customers’ business locations to verify sales operations, cashflow, and stock levels.
- Identify and report potential risks such as business closure, diversion of funds, or reduced business turnover.
- Maintain accurate and updated field visitation records and customer feedback.
- Perform spot checks on newly disbursed SME loans to confirm fund utilization.
3. Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain cordial relationships with SME customers to encourage repayment discipline.
- Provide financial advisory support and educate customers on proper cashflow management.
- Serve as the link between the customer, SME Relationship Managers, and the Retail Cluster Head for all collection-related issues.
4. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on collections and field activities.
- Track repayment patterns and provide data-driven insights on customer behavior.
- Escalate chronic or high-risk accounts to the Retail Cluster Head and Credit Risk team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Loan repayment rate and portfolio quality (e.g., PAR < 5%)
- Volume and frequency of sales proceeds credited to Wema Bank accounts
- Timeliness of follow-ups and field visits
- Reduction in overdue or non-performing loans
- Accuracy and timeliness of field reports submitted
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: HND / B.Sc in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years in loan collection, credit monitoring, or SME banking (experience in microfinance or commercial banking preferred).
- Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and persuasive abilities.
- Good knowledge of SME business models and cashflow dynamics.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills (Excel proficiency required).
- Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel within assigned territory.
- Must be familiar with local business environments and markets.
- Must own an Android smartphone for reporting and GPS tracking.
- Fluency in English and local language(s) is an advantage.
