SHIPPING OPERATIONS/ BUSINESS DEV. OFFICER

Job Summary

The company seeks for a Shipping Operations/ Business Development Manager who shall report to the GM and shall be responsible for business expansion and the efficient running of operations.

Education:

  • A University degree in related field.

  • Professional certification is an added advantage.

Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of computer, Microsoft Office suites.

  • Ability to establish harmonious working relations in a multicultural environment.

  • Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas and systems in a target based environment. 

  • Ability to clearly and concisely express ideas and concepts in written and oral form.

  • Proven ability to enforce safety procedures.

  • Good analytical and negotiating skills.

MAIN DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Shall prospect/ source for new businesses and deliver on shipping agency, third party ship management and marine services.

  2. Generate and manage the vessel husbandry, chartering and ship brokerage.

  3. Help in identifying and developing new market segments, creating/tapping new opportunities and developing relationship with Key customers.

  4. Supervision of the Marine operations department and activities therein

  5. Receiving Notice of Readiness (NOR) for visiting tankers and passing same to the Terminal and other concerned parties.

  6. Coordinating all operations at the Single Buoy Mooring operation (SBM).

  7. Creating and maintaining a data base of all vessels handled by the company and generating monthly/quarterly and annually reports to management.

  8. Collate information on tankers movement at all Nigeria West Africa Terminals and process same for publishing daily Tankers position including Crude, Gas and Product reports

  9. Ensuring a timely response to emails/nominations and prompt reporting of activities of vessels under our agency.

  10. Ensuring that vessels clearances are in place prior berthing/sailing.

  11. Obtaining vessel’s relevant clearances from government agencies like DPR, Customs, PPPRA, NPA, Immigrations, Narcotics amongst others and following up where there are issues.

  12. Adhering and complying with Safety Procedure and Policy in accordance with Safety Management system,

  13. Observing HSE / operational hazard and reporting to safety officers / management
