Job Summary

The ideal candidate would have drafted and reviewed legal contracts and documentation for businesses in a law firm with varied business clients. The candidate would have strong research and negotiation skills, pay attention to detail and be able to assess each business transaction and proffer legal advice.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with clients to learn about their legal needs and concerns and providing them with advice.
  • Developing strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively for clients.
  • Explaining legal options to clients and bringing possible outcomes or threats to their attention.
  • Building relationships with clients based on trust.
  • Developing arguments and representing clients in criminal and civil legal proceedings.
  • Preparing legal documents, such as contracts, dispositions, and pleadings, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Staying informed about current legislation, especially concerning legal specialties.
  • Finding ethical solutions to legal matters.


Requirements:

  • Academic qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in Law
  • Not less than 6 years post call
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience as a Commercial Lawyer in a reputed Law firm
  • Experience in the review and drafting of commercial contracts and other legal business
  • documentation is CRUCIAL
  • Experience advising clients on business formation, joint ventures, acquisition of assets and
  • shares and similar business transactions
  • Ability to conduct extensive research and be detail-oriented
  • Attendance of business meetings with clients and third parties
  • Preparation of reports and legal opinions
  • Experience in Company secretarial matters will be an added advantage

  • Good business communication etiquette (email, WhatsApp, etc)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and supervise junior associates
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and perform under pressure.
