Job Summary

We are seeking a highly diligent and experienced Quality Control Officer to oversee and ensure the effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality, food safety, and environmental management systems across our frozen seafood supply chain. This includes all operational stages from onboard catch and freezing, through processing and storage, to export. The role requires strict compliance with international standards including ISO 9001, ISO 22000/FSSC, ISO 14001, BRC, Codex Alimentarius, EU, and USFDA regulations.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain quality, food safety, and environmental management systems throughout the entire supply chain.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits onboard vessels, in processing facilities, and storage sites to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
  • Monitor compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 22000/FSSC, ISO 14001, BRC, Codex, EU, and USFDA standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety and environmental performance.
  • Analyze quality performance data and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.
  • Train and sensitize staff on quality assurance protocols, hygiene practices, and compliance procedures.
  • Investigate product quality issues and non-conformities; recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, certifying bodies, and third-party auditors as required.


Requirements:

  • HND/Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in quality assurance/control within the food processing or seafood industry.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with ISO 9001, ISO 22000/FSSC, ISO 14001, BRC, Codex standards, and relevant export regulations (EU and USFDA).
  • Strong understanding of HACCP principles and food safety best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel for site inspections, audits, and field operations.
