The Program Associate will work within the established program protocols and objectives to deliver on critical tasks.

Job Description

In this role, you will be required to fulfill the following primary responsibilities working as a key member of the Nourishing Africa team:

  • Collaborate with the Program Lead to develop, execute and evaluate strategic grants management plan
  • Conduct due diligence on submitted grant applications; follow up with applicants on missing/incomplete information or other application anomalies
  • Prepare and generate grant agreement letters; follow up with grantees for outstanding documents
  • Maintain the integrity of the online grants management system by ensuring data is complete, updated and accurate
  • Undertake aspects of technical assistance, investments, and due diligence in alignment with the program objectives
  • Support internal teams and program partners in processing and supervising activities across the focus states
  • Assist in preparing and editing docket and other relevant materials, and implement training as needed
  • Participate in and contribute to activities for advocacy, dissemination, and capacity building related to the program and Nourishing Africa activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions to develop specific investment opportunities
  • Monitor and document the grant disbursement workflow processes, forms, templates, reports, and data
  • Perform on-going monitoring and assessment of partner capacity and program deliverables
  • Ensure adherence of granting mechanisms to internal and donor requirements related to eligibility, awards, and financial management
  • Take the lead in monitoring program timelines, engaging the Program Lead well in advance of closure deadlines and advising on activity execution as at when due
  • Actively participate in program meetings as appropriate
  • Generate reports and data analysis for program and finance team or board.
  • Conduct periodic review and update of grant management Standard Operating Procedures and relevant documents governing awards as needed
  • Coordinate with the team to proactively find solutions to emerging program challenges 
  • Perform other program-related work as required


Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, committed to excellence, with a passion for the agriculture sector. Below are key qualifications that we require:

  • Must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Have a minimum of three years of professional, private sector experience in program management, project finance, consultancy, grant management, or related field
  • Data management experience, familiarity with data systems and business processes
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of public policy, regulation, monitoring and evaluation as well as of the economic developments and market trends in Nigeria
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to contribute to sound decisions and contribute to the execution of the decisions
  • Ability to initiate, effectively, and independently interact with multiple stakeholders on the program
  • Strong commitment to research and ability to implement innovative approaches to program activities to enhance performance and create added benefits
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, apply business knowledge to the resolution of problems
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work with limited supervision and efficiently to deliver under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Competence in the use of standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel as required
