Nourishing Africa is seeking to employ a Product Designer with a passion for finding solutions that are customer-centric. You will work with cross-functional team members and will be required to utilize both qualitative and quantitative data to make informed decisions.

Job Description/Requirements

In this role, you will be required to fulfill the following primary responsibilities working as a key member of the Nourishing Africa team:

  • Set design requirements based on information from internal teams and user research
  • Identify new product improvement opportunities
  • Work closely with software developers to suggest improvements for products and processes
  • Create and manage a product backlog and prioritize features for development  
  • Employ design concepts into functional prototypes
  • Analyze how a new product satisfies market needs and consumer preferences.
  • Modify and revise existing designs to meet changing consumer preferences.
  • Guide and direct the research and design for delivering key product enhancements (UX/UI, user journeys, onsite search, SEO, etc.) that best address users’ needs
  • Present product design ideas to cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Recommend new tools and technologies by staying abreast of the latest trends and techniques
  • Ensure cross-team schedules and processes are managed smoothly and efficiently
  • Use product usage data for informed decision making
  • Understand design impact through data and metrics
  • Plan and execute testing (user testing, A/B testing), synthesize large volumes of data, and discover patterns 

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, committed to excellence, with a passion for the agriculture sector. Below are key qualifications that we require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, IT, Engineering, or a related field
  • A firm grasp of market trends and consumer preferences
  • Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and use both qualitative and quantitative feedback
  • Excellent eye for aesthetic design and customer appeal
  • Practical experience using computer-aided design software
  • Mastery and application of color, space, typography, iconography, illustration, and UX laws
  • Understanding of brand across different platforms
  • Ability to effectively communicate design concepts
  • Good technical and IT skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members
  • Creative problem-solving skills
