As a People Manager, a typical day might include the following:

  • Supervising our people processes to ensure maximum efficiency while delivering on customer satisfaction.

  • Driving end to end implementation and execution of people programs and initiatives including retention strategies, performance management, recognition and reward, culture and connection, career development and advancement, onboarding and induction.

  • Advising our key customers – all employees on People policies, guidelines and benefits where necessary.

  • Collaborating with the Happiness team on initiatives that will ensure our employees are connected to purpose and engaged to put in their best.

  • Communicating and connecting staff to learning and growth opportunities provided by the Learning and Development team.

  • Driving our performance management cycle and reviewing our performance management system to ensure fairness and efficiency.

  • Constantly innovating on our people processes in the employee journey cycle.

  • Resolving People issues independently and minimizing escalations.

  • Working closely with the VP, People & Culture in creating strategies to make our company a Great Place to Work. 

  • Act as a People Partner to a specific division.


We’d love to meet someone with:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in dealing with employee relations issues and concerns, in addition to supporting cross-functional teams and dealing with internal stakeholders (i.e People Partnering).

  • Good knowledge of employment laws - Nigeria specifically.

  • An extraordinary mind and loves to use it.

  • A love for unconventional HR practices with a strong background as a generalist.

  • A love to engage with people with the aim of providing guidance where necessary.

  • A deep understanding of what it means to balance the needs of the business and the employees at all times.

  • The ability to think strategically, translating ideas into solutions.

  • The ability to deal with confidential or sensitive information in a discreet and professional manner.

  • A passion for startups, a fast-paced working environment, and love to be creative about solving problems.

  • The ability to pay attention to the details. As far as you are concerned everything worth doing is worth doing right every single time. You stay focused and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
