The construction logistics manager is responsible for all aspects of the logistics supply chain, stores management, development and optimisation of site logistics solutions to meet the needs of projects.

Job Description

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

1. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance

2. Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers

3. Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements

4. Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs

5. Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers

6. Recommend optimal transport modes, routes or frequency

7. Select carriers/suppliers and monitor service against performance criteria

8. Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery

9. Assess and make recommendations for logistics processes in potential new facilities or plants and advise of cost implications and efficiency

10. Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports

11. Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory and system records are in agreement

12. Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process

13. Interpret trends and analyse and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the organisation to aid customer service and cost improvements

14. Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Functional/Technical competencies

- Strong planning skills with the ability to handle multiple projects through to completion and to manage competing priorities

- Expert knowledge of technical regulations related to logistics

- Commercial and financial acumen with a full understanding of the impact of failure in terms of business cost, production schedules and customer order fulfillment

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

  • BS in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain or related field
  • Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous


EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years proven working experience as a logistics manager
