Lifting and Hoisting Appointed Person (L&H AP)

Responsibilities:

• Develop all categories of Lift Plans in support of Bonga North and carry out periodic reviews.
• Ensures that all applicable Lifting and Hoisting Procedures are well understood and applied by all personnel involved in Lifting Operations.
• Conduct Rigging Studies, including Crane requirements, load calculations, and interpretation of Crane load charts.
• Create and review Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Job Safety Analysis plans.
• Ensure relevant IOGP Start Work Checks is/are reviewed prior to execution of every mechanical Lifting operation.
• Confirm that the categorization and technical content of the lift plan are correct.
• Confirming that the lifting equipment is only operated within its safe operating limits and OEM operating instructions.
• Defining the lifting appliance set-up/configuration, ensuring the correct equipment is available, and that safety devices are installed and operational.
• Ensuring a restricted access or no-go area is established.
• Ensuring the travel route of the lifting operation is clear and free from hazards and obstructions (e.g., overhead obstacles such as powerlines) to enable the lifting equipment and load to safely travel from the lifting to the landing point without being impeded by any obstacles.
• Ensuring there are good access and egress routes for the lifting team, including putting in place safe alternative routes if walkways are obstructed.
• Participating/leading in and delivering toolbox talks.
• Confirming that all personnel involved in a lifting operation are protected at work from the risk to their health or safety by having sufficient training, experience, and appropriate supervision to perform the task competently relative to the categorization of the lift.
• Supervise lifting operation execution
• Track lifting KPI, e.g., lifted quantity, tonnage

Requirements:

• Proven experience in lifting and hoisting operations, preferably as an appointed person or supervisor.
• Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging practices, and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work closely with SMEs, project teams, and operational staff to ensure compliance and safety.
• Relevant certifications in lifting operations or rigging (industry-specific) are desirable.
