Job Description

Our successful candidate will:

  • Participate in the articulation and development of the operational plans and programs of the HR Department.
  • Articulate Company’s manpower requirements based on input from Line Managers and obtain the approval of the management
  • Participate in the formulation and effective implementation of recruitment strategies and plans to identify, select, hire and retain the best talent to meet the company’s manpower needs.
  • Coordinate candidate sourcing activities ensuring laid down policies and guidelines are adhered to.
  • Prepare and submit periodic management reports on the activities of the Human Resources department.
  • Sit in on interviews for supervisory positions and above, and provide valid advice to Line Managers on the suitability of candidates.
  • Develop and update the job descriptions for all jobs in the business and update person specifications for the jobs. Ensure that relevant training/development programs are administered to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure consistent interpretation and implementation of all HR policies across the board.
  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of effective performance and career management strategies that would help sustain a performance-driven culture and ensure an appropriate balance between staff’s personal and organizational goals.
  • Oversee the coordination of the performance management process
  • Assist in the articulation and implementation of the organizational culture and take ownership for building awareness amongst the workforce.
  • Serve as a second level escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved by the Line Managers.
  • Serve as a change agent and support the Line Managers in coordinating the implementation of approved change enabling strategies for the organization.
  • Coordinate, direct and supervise the day-to-day activities of the department and ensure alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the department and the organization as a whole.
  • Prepare HR budgets and ensure adherence to the budget while seeking appropriate approvals for unbudgeted items.
  • Identify areas of improvements/changes and recommend new processes and improvements to exist systems.
  • Prepare/compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the Chief Executive Officer and other relevant parties.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

  • Ability to make decisions for the human resources and administration department 
  • Must be problem-solving and be able to embrace change 
  • Needs to be a strong facilitator to provide support for the unit to achieve goals 
  • Must be able to delegate 
  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience of HR strategy articulation and implementation 
  • Very good knowledge and understanding of the components and developments in  Human Capital management (policy design and implementation, manpower sourcing, placement, learning and development, performance management, counselling and career management, conflict management, general administration, facilities and resource management, reward and recognition, retention and exit management) 
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically and to appreciate the systematic impact of various policies, practices, issues and solutions on HR Good knowledge of the relevant industries and appreciation of its operations  
  • In-depth understanding of the Nigerian society, cultural diversity and regional nuances  Advanced knowledge of Nigerian labour and employment legislation  
  • Oral & Written Communication skills 
  • Responsive and Results Orientation 
  • Relationship Management Sound ethics and integrity 
  • Minimum educational requirements 
  • First degree or its equivalent in any discipline, preferably in Humanities 
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience, of which at least two (2) must have been in a similar role. 
  • Professional certification (HRCI, SHRM or CIPM) is a necessary requirement
