Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Develop, cascade and monitor the implementation of internal Control strategy and work plans/activity plans aligned to the bank's overall strategy
- Create and maintain a world-class internal control system and control culture in the bank.
- Develop and implement sound independent control policies and standards covering all sources of risks (financial and non-financial) across the bank.
- Provide advisory support and services in building strong KYC and KYC(B) compliance by identifying control lapses/policy inadequacies through KYC activities for process improvement/policy amendments.
- Review all expenses and control costs within the bank by carrying out periodic (daily/weekly/Monthly and Quarterly) assessment, evaluations, control and approvals of budget requests and recommendations as per approved budget of the bank
- Ensure there are no fraud cases originating from operational activities across the bank.
- Identify and resolve all issues of operational lapses promptly.
- Carry out specific risk-based independent control functions with significant material and operational risk impact.
- Ensure policy and regulatory compliance.
- Promote efficiency in the processes of operations.
- Supervise all direct reports to ensure that issues are dealt with at the appropriate levels, and coordinate activities of direct reports to ensure that internal control policies are complied with.
- Ensure the continuous development and motivation of staff in the department.
Requirements:
Minimum
Education:
- First degree in Accounting, Finance and any related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, and CIBN are mandatory.
- A postgraduate degree is an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ cognate work experience.
