Works closely with engineering and facilities on special projects involving plant construction, equipment design, and hazardous assessments.
Assists in all aspects of incident investigation including verifying root cause and approving the implementation of preventive actions.
Ensures emergency response systems, policies and procedures are in place to manage emergency situations.
Maintains all federal, state, and local permits in a current and valid condition.
Maintains chemical hazardous waste program including chemical accumulation and accumulation area inspections.
Provides hazardous material/right to know training and MSD management.
Provides laboratory safety support along with periodic lab-pack cleanouts as required or necessary.
Performs individual hygiene activities including chemical monitoring, and any other monitoring programs as necessary.
Maintains current working knowledge of all applicable HSE regulations.
Maintains all necessary training and licensing to function as a signing authority on all HSE matters.
Inspect machinery and facilities on a daily basis to ensure they are in proper working order and no safety hazards are endangering personnel

Provides safety support and advice, including supervision on the preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start-up activities.
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to communicate effectively with regulatory authorities, government officials, major customers and senior executives within the organization.
Experience creating and managing a budget including resource allocation and priority setting.
Successful leadership and hands-on direction of HSE issues in major operating facilities and business functions that support unit projects.
Experience in globally and technically diverse workplace
Experience in taking on an HSE leadership role during the design and construction phases of facilities that have complex R&D, Chemistry, Microbiology, Manufacturing, and packaging equipment.
Direct experience working with high volume solvents and chemicals
Experience in dealing with complexities in the manufacturing and refinery industries.
Demonstrated ability to develop, motivate and direct teams in a matrix organization.

The HSE Manager will provide leadership in order to ensure safety and environment compliance and assist in the achievement of meeting company goals and initiatives, profitability and productivity requirements.
He shall be responsible for the design, development, implementation, communication and coordination of all environmental health, safety and DOT programs for the company.

Preparing reports-prepares monthly reports and makes presentations to senior management

The HSE manager ensures the safety of employees, contractors, and the surrounding community from risks associated with manufacturing/refining, such as spills and fires.
Collaborate with Occupational Safety and Health Administration to implement safety measures, such as emergencies and other safety measures.
The HSE manager uses his knowledge of engineering and industrial systems to ensure that machinery, chemicals and equipment do not cause harm to people and/or property.
Conduct analysis in conjunction with relevant regulatory agencies: this is to ascertain safety parameters, such as emissions, air quality, chemical leaks, soil quality etc.

Bachelor of Science with 10+ years related experience in an HSE leadership role; safety, Engineering, or equivalent Science Degree
Master of Science with 7+ years related experience in an HSE leadership role; Safety, engineering or equivalent Science Degree.
Bachelor Degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent
Additional knowledge in HSE and fire & safety management systems, an added advantage.
5 t0 12 years cognate experience in industrial Safety Health and Environment systems; 6 years in plant operations, 6 years in a supervisory capacity.
Working knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment management systems, Environmental discharges, incident command systems, and incident investigation by using the Tripod Beta Tool, HSE auditing techniques, HEMP, radiological safety.
Industrial hygiene, and gas dispersion, modelling explosion indices and ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001.
Good knowledge of English
