We are currently seeking a dynamic, experienced, and innovative General Manager to oversee the operations and strategic direction of the platform. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive experience in media management, and a deep understanding of the media landscape, especially within the Nigerian context.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of both TCR English and TCR Hausa, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and quality of content.
  • Oversee editorial processes, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and compelling news across all platforms (online newspaper, TV station).
  • Develop and implement strategies for growth, revenue generation, and audience engagement across both platforms.
  • Manage a diverse team of journalists, reporters, editors, and technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensure that all content is aligned with the platform’s values and goals while staying ahead of industry trends and audience preferences.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including advertisers, content creators, and strategic partners, to drive business growth and expand TCR’s reach.
  • Represent TCR at industry events, conferences, and meetings, enhancing the platform’s visibility and reputation.
  • Develop and implement a robust business plan, ensuring financial targets are met and operational costs are managed effectively.
  • Stay informed about the evolving media landscape, integrating new technologies, media trends, and business opportunities.


Requirements:

  • Preferably based in Kano, with a strong understanding of social media and the local media environment.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in media management, journalism, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team.
  • Strong editorial, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in both digital and broadcast media is a plus.
  • Strong skills in social media management.
  • Ability to develop innovative strategies for content, audience engagement, and revenue generation.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities of the Nigerian media landscape.
  • Strong network and relationships within the media industry and other sectors.
  • Proficiency in both English and Hausa is strongly preferred.
  • A forward-thinking, results-oriented approach to solving problems and driving success.
