Job Summary
The Fellows Engagement & Communications Manager will require an understanding of the overall mission, strategies, and deliverables of the various components of the Fellowship’s operations to provide the required strategic communications support for visibility to the appropriate audiences; drive alumni Fellow engagement by creating innovative and inspiring spaces for Fellows to develop, interact, and connect, within and outside the Fellowship. S/he will have responsibility for the cohesion of the community of Fellows records and provide Fellow and program management support as required.

Job Description/Requirements
Operational Focus/Tasks
Alumni Fellow Engagement:
- Craft a strategy that maps out effective Fellow engagement that keeps the Fellows vibrant, connected, and productive, aligned with the shared vision to create a good society through values-based leadership, including programs related to the Youth alumni.
- Create alumni programs by working with the events subcommittee in-country.
- Manage the calendar for the year and coordinate quarterly Fellow reunions and other ALIWA programs.
- Create virtual and in-person programs and initiatives to grow the quality and quantity of engagement with our Fellows.
- Explore, create, and execute a strategy for free and pay-to-play Fellow alumni engagement opportunities that support connectivity while securing sponsorship for such events.
- Develop impact-worthy partnerships with Fellows for key initiatives and thought partnerships on Leadership Ventures, etc.
- Develop a speakers platform, reimagining opportunities for Fellows within and outside the network, including other leadership fora.
- Develop strategy and opportunities for Fellows podcasts, both from the perspective of podcasters and guests.
- Develop and champion opportunities and methods to create connectivity within the Fellows body via social media platforms, class, and affinity group WhatsApp groups.
Corporate Communications:
- Draw up an annual communications program for ALIWA with responsibility for both external and internal communications of the Fellowship.
- Spearhead and implement ALIWA’s content creation for all communications platforms and outlets.
- Work with a 3rd party PR/communications service provider to enhance ALIWA’s PR.
- Curate the stories of ALIWA Fellow impact on the Impact section of the website and other similar channels provided within the network and externally.
- Lead ALIWA’s impact reporting efforts – capturing new ventures in the year; the impact of ventures, the number of beneficiaries impacted by our programs, the number of government policies influenced, and any other relevant indices.
Leadership Ventures:
- Support Fellows' ventures with required tools including the membership network tools, track high-impact entrepreneurial leadership ventures for all Fellows and recommend them for grants, and constantly cultivate similar partnerships to benefit Fellows.
- Benchmark venture-type requirements in other Fellowships and leadership programs ensuring ALIWA stays current and fresh.
- Lead ALIWA’s impact reporting efforts – capturing new ventures in the year, the impact of ventures, the number of beneficiaries impacted by our programs, the number of government policies influenced, and any other relevant indices.
Education, Qualifications & Key Experience Required
- Work Experience: Experience in development communications, understanding of, and experience and exposure in the non-governmental (NGO) and/or foundations sector is highly desirable. Understanding program management is highly desirable when working directly with the CEO/ED.
- Years of Experience: 4-5 years of relevant experience.
- Education: First degree from a reputable institution.

Knowledge/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree and applicable work experience required.
- Skills and aptitude in new media tools and utilization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and Outlook.
- Ability to handle multiple, often complex tasks at one time.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Creativity and intellectual curiosity.
Competencies:
- Interpersonal: Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills in both informal and formal settings, and challenging situations as well as day-to-day encounters.
- Communication: Must demonstrate good skills in both written and verbal communication both internally and externally when dealing with all stakeholders.
- Social Media Competency: Understanding and ability to deploy and optimize social media platforms for corporate advantage.
- Team Building: Must be a strong team player while also being self-motivated.
- Proactive: Scan the entire Fellowship and bring issues to the Executive Director’s attention.
- Ability to Work Well Under Pressure: Adherence to strict deadlines is essential.
- Project and Event Management: Particularly with attention to detail.
KPIs for Fellows Engagement & Communications Manager
Corporate Communications:
- Draw up an annual communications plan, to be broken down into measurable monthly communication activities and goals.
- Achieve timely execution of agreed PR/communication plan.
- Monthly external communications with major partners and stakeholders.
- Position ALIWA as high impact.
Fellows’ Engagement:
- Design programs and convenings for ALIWA Fellows in Lagos, Abuja, Accra, or any agreed location in line with the vision, positioning, and aspiration of ALIWA.
- Design the annual Fellows engagement calendar and ensure delivery of agreed objectives, content, and quality.
- Consistency and success rate in engaging Fellows in gatherings – at least a 30% boost in participation annually.
Social Impact Ventures Support:
- Increase in the number of Fellows initiating ventures.
- Evidence of ventures that are increasing in impact annually.
- Produce an annual impact report showcasing Fellows.
Strong Partnerships:
- Number of new institutional partnerships built, and positive mutual benefit per year to support Fellows and their ventures.
- Deepening existing partnerships through multi-year collaboration and/or events.
Fellows’ Administration:
- Accurate and up-to-date database on Fellows.
Remuneration: NGN 350,000 - 400,000 Net
