Executive Director, Systems Planning

Our client in the energy sector is seeking experienced and visionary leaders to join its team as Managing Director/CEO and Executive Directors (EDs) to provide Executive and Strategic Leadership for their operations in Nigeria.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of Nigeria’s electricity grid and ensure a reliable, sustainable, and efficient power supply for millions of Nigerians.

About the Role

Your role will be instrumental in ensuring that the grid can meet the nation's current and future energy demands while integrating new technologies and renewable energy sources. You will lead the long-term planning and development of the national grid, ensuring its reliability, resilience, and alignment with Nigeria's energy policy.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the national grid, including load forecasting, generation expansion, and transmission network development.

Oversee the planning of critical grid infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of reliability, safety, and sustainability.

Lead the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid, developing strategies to manage their impact on grid stability.

Analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and technological advancements to provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Engage with key stakeholders, including government agencies, power companies, and international forums, to ensure alignment on grid planning initiatives.

Responsible for long term system planning, reliability assessments and infrastructure development

Identify and mitigate risks related to grid planning, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field.

Master’s degree or professional certification in power system planning and operations (, COREN).

Minimum of 15 years of experience in power system planning or grid infrastructure development, with at least 5 years in a proven senior management role.

In-depth knowledge of power systems, grid infrastructure, and energy market dynamics.

Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.
