Job Description/Requirements

An Indigenous Oil and Gas Company located in Port Harcourt is recruiting to fill the position of an Equipment Maintenance Officer.

The Equipment Maintenance Officer will be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery and carry out maintenance work, diagnosing problems and fitting new parts and making sure equipment is working properly. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the maintenance and overhauling of the company's generators, welding machines, compressor machines, forklift, truck, crane, and ACs; troubleshooting and resolution of electrical faults.


 

Responsibilities/Summary of Functions:

  • Responsible for the level of repair and maintenance work on diesel-powered equipment, motor vehicles, trucks, heavy duty construction/maintenance equipment, and hand power tools
  • Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties
  • Responsible for ensuring the operational availability of mobile equipment and for the continuing inspection of equipment
  • Devising and formulating regular, preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, spare parts supply and procurement/replacement schedules
  • Carrying out routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work and respond to equipment faults
  • Diagnose breakdown problems in order to reduce or eliminate such breakdown
  • Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems, repairs and provide preventive measures
  • Ensure that correct spares and tools are available
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Prepare weekly/Monthly maintenance schedules and allocate work
  • Monitor inventory of materials and equipment for maintenance purposes
  • Control downtime by informing operations workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
  • Preparing and submitting maintenance reports

          

 Requirements/Qualification:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years hands-on experience working in construction and/or oil and gas industry where heavy-duty diesel engines are in use.
  • HND in Mechanical Engineering or any other engineering field
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of preventive, corrective & scheduled maintenance
  • Verifiable experience in the use of MS Office packages
