Job Description/Requirements

MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Early Years Coordinator is expected to: 

• Lead a team of staff providing a safe, caring and stimulating learning  environment for all children in the Early Years. 

• Contribute to the effective planning, delivery and evaluation of the early years curriculum for children, including children with special educational needs. 

• Assist in the development of the scheme of work for all classes of the Early  Years. 

• Leading and overseeing the observation, assessment and planning for  children in all classes

• Ensure that all staff are familiar with all policies, especially Safeguarding and  Child Protection procedures.  

• Co-ordinate staff, children and school activities 

• Practice, encourage and promote the policies and procedures of the school

• Coordinate Pupil Progress Meetings to evaluate pupil’s performance periodically 

• Design the roster for staff duties. 

• Take enquiries on behalf of the school 

• Keep relevant records and documents regarding the Early Years Unit. 


TEACHING AND LEARNING PRACTICES 

The Early Years Coordinator is expected to: 

• Have a detailed professional knowledge of the EYFS and MONTESSORI  curriculum including an understanding of the knowledge and progression of  early childhood development. 

• Monitor, evaluate and review the quality of learning and teaching
• Ensure the promotion of methods that enable all pupils to learn effectively
• Encourage colleagues to challenge and inspire pupils, expecting the most of  them.


PARENT-TEACHER RELATIONSHIP 

We expect the Early Years Coordinator to: 

● Communicate verbally and in writing with the parents 

● Keep all records regarding parent’s communication. 

● Promote parental involvement in school and children’s activities 


PERSON SPECIFICATION 

• 3-5 years work experience in the role 

• Teaching qualifications(s) – B.Ed, PGDE or M.Ed 

• Certified Early Childhood Practitioner 

• Background in Montessori Educations 

• Great interpersonal skills 

• Pro activeness and ability to take initiative 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

• Expertise in the use of various digital teaching and learning software
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages
