Job Summary

African village market is an online marketplace for groceries, farm products, and other daily needs but our focus is on farm produce. African village market is a startup and is hiring a manager to head the team e-commerce manager’s primary role is to oversee e-commerce operations, as well as to build out the team and, ideally, help the e-commerce business grow faster. We need a Jack (or Jane) of all trades with experience in marketing, media buying, website design, and copywriting. “Ideally, this person will have a wealth of experience in many different areas of online marketing, from website design to advertising so that they’re able to effectively hire and coach other team members to success,” The applicant; should be someone who knows about e-commerce, clearly, but who is also constantly learning because “e-commerce is an ever-changing landscape.”

Job Description/Requirements

What Skills Should an E-Commerce Manager Have?

There are a few key skills, we look out for in our ideal candidate.

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in a similar position
  • Applicant should be analytically minded knowledgeable of web technology and trends, as well as experience with web analytics. This will help the company analyze customer data to find new ways to engage customers. 
  • The candidate must be highly adept at crunching and interpreting data. [Suffice it to say that online marketing is more about analyzing test results and less about gut instinct. You can measure what works and what doesn’t, sometimes almost instantaneously] monitoring and optimizing online sales results
  • The candidate should have a track record of driving results. That means they need experience in both operational and project management and “a deep understanding of e-commerce metrics including conversion, AOV (average order value), traffic, shipping and so on,
  • An e-commerce manager should be a good communicator because e-commerce managers work with so many different departments, as well as suppliers and customers, they must have good communication skills.
  • Like practically every other job in the realm of digital marketing, e-commerce is ostensibly a team sport
  • The candidate should be able to interact with practically all major departments within the business. They also work with many different outside vendors. Cross-collaboration and interpersonal skills are a key part of the job.”
  • Managing team members, gathering support for e-commerce within the organization, collecting feedback from customers, managing marketing and PR communications, process changes and services, and managing agreements with e-commerce suppliers. “In those environments, forging cross-functional relationships is mission-critical,”
  • The candidate should have a strategic mindset. a key role for the manager is developing and executing strategy, Being strategically adept is one of those attributes that comes only with experience, proven success in e-commerce” candidates should be able to back up their claims about the experience. Candidates will walk us through their experience managing multiple projects, including desktop and mobile website development, online merchandising, launching new products, brand marketing, social media, and budgeting.
  • The manager needs to be able to describe the consumer's purchase path on the website and how to optimize that navigation,
  • The candidate should be well-schooled in cross-selling and upselling.

  • A good product manager crisply define the target, the what, the how and mention the delivery of the what
  • A good product manager communicates with engineering in writing and verbally.
  • Good product managers don’t give instructions informally
  • The product manager gathers information informally.
  • Good product managers collect collateral, FAQs presentations, and white paper that can be leveraged by salespeople, marketing people, and executives.
  • Good product managers focus the team on sales and revenue. 

Schedule:

  • Working days Monday - Friday; Time 9-5
  • Our focus is to limit the days our manager work from the office, but for a start, the manager needs to work from the office. In the future after the manager has proven excellence in remote skills. Then working from off will be 3days a week then the rest part will be from home.

Remuneration: NGN 250,000


LOCATION: SANGOTEDO, LAGOS.
