Job Summary

Our Client is looking for a registered nurse with specialised training in dialysis with at least 10 years’ experience in this sector. He/She would have the responsibility for all aspects of clinic and facility operations. The Head Nurse/Manager will work with other teams to plan, direct, and evaluate the quality of care and management

Job Description

  • Integrates the principles and philosophy of the professional nursing care delivery system in practice carrying out outpatient and inpatient haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home- based care
  • Serves as a role model to other nursing personnel by demonstrating effective direct patient and family centred care, leadership and professional behaviour.
  • Responsible for drafting nursing schedules and provides a staffing pattern which meets patient and family care needs and provides direct haemodialysis nursing care and patient education with patients and families, assuring continuity of care as necessary.
  • Conducts the performance evaluation process for other nursing staff, which includes appropriate counselling in relation to performance and progressive discipline.
  • Informs, teaches and enforces adherence to DHDCs policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Participates and communicates the organisational/management decisions and policies to staff.
  • Serves as a liaison with medical staff to identify issues of mutual concern, solve problems, and manage the quality care outcomes of the facility.
  • Facilitates the training and orientation of all new and established staff members and patients.
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluates patient dialysis care standards for the clinic
  • Participates in formulating patient care policies and procedures.
  • Promotes a unit-based, multidisciplinary quality improvement program that incorporates patient care standards and meets health regulations and guidelines.
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluations unit based documentation tools to promote continuity on all patient and family care activities.
  • Promotes open and effective communication among all staff, the multidisciplinary team, leadership, patients and families.Keeping inventory and ordering and maintaining stock and resources
  • Responsible for the safe and therapeutic environment for patients, family, visitors, and staff.
  • Develops and implements an ongoing process for problem-solving that includes input from staff, providers, patients and families, and DHDC leadership.
  • Develops and implements efficient systems to enhance patient satisfaction and staff and provider productivity.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of the budget.
  • Promotes cost-effective behaviour in staff through observation and education.
  • Participates in the development of annual goals and objectives and identifies and resolves complex or recurring operational problems.
  • Serves as a role model, demonstrating effective patient and family centered care, leadership and professional behaviour.
  • Supervises and serves as a clinical resource to clinic staff through provision of patient and family care and coordination of care.
  • Coordinates medical and nursing management of patient/family care in the clinic
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluates patient dialysis care standards for the clinic
  • Participates in formulating patient care policies and procedures.
  • Monitors all nursing activities related to patient/family care and inpatient during the hours of operation.
  • Promotes a unit-based, multidisciplinary quality improvement program that incorporates patient care standards and meets health regulations and guidelines.
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluations unit based documentation tools to promote continuity on all patient and family care activities.


Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. (Master’s degree in Nursing Administration or Business Administration is an added advantage)
  • Minimum Ten (10) years relevant experience in clinical practice
  • Nursing certification in dialysis, BLS/ACLS certification
  • Should have Supervisory Experience (To supervise nursing staff)
  • Basic Computer skills and proficiency in MS word/outlook
  • Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
  • Knowledge of Electronic medical record system
  • Should possess knowledge of Anaemia and Osteodystrophy management
  • Should possess excellent communication skills
  • Should possess excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
