Debt Recovery Agent

Job Summary

As part of a new Debt Recovery Agency, responsible for collecting outstanding loans on behalf of our clients which are majorly Microfinance Banks. This position will be part of the Team executing all debt recovery strategies and activities within the Company, Supports the Unit Lead in delivering on key Debt recovery metrics. Expedite the collection of debts prior to legal recovery proceedings commencing, negotiating payments/payment arrangements, handling debtor inquiries, and provides administrative assistance to the team. Works with the Legal Department, Risk Management, and other groups within the Company to further our customer interest in recovery debts.

  • Minimum Qualification: Degree

Job Description/Requirements

  • Ensure collection of outstanding loan payments from our customer's debtors. Recovering bad debts from delinquent debtors.
  • Resolving disputes between our customers and debtors, ensuring that concerns are actioned correctly.
  • Decide the correct action when negotiating payments and settlement offers.
  • Manage debtors who are resistant by remaining polite, tactful, firm, and honest.
  • Complete any administrative task as required for the efficient running of the team's activities.
  • Always deliver a consistent and professional level of service.
  • Devising customized recovery strategy on a case-by-case basis
  • Reducing the non-performing loans owed to the customers.
  • Designing payment plans for debtors. Negotiating settlements with clients.
  • Following up with clients on previous payment arrangements.
  • Locating and establishing contact with debtors.
  • When necessary, liaising with solicitors and bailiffs.
  • Taking ownership of debt collection cases.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • HND/B.SC Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Business or a Related Field,¬†
  • A degree in Law will be an advantage.
  • 4-5years experience in debt collection
  • Evidence of well-developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Sound verbal communication skills including the ability to negotiate respectfully and communicate the rationale for decisions made.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow policy and procedures.
  • Sound numeracy skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
