We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Communications Officer for a 4-month, full-time position on the African Female Artist Mentorship Program (AFAMP). The role is ideal for an individual with an interest in the arts and the NGO sector. The successful candidate will be a creative team player, capable of managing multiple tasks. This position involves supporting communications efforts, including but not limited to: Writing and editing reports. Producing and editing photos and videos. Creating content for web and social media. Designing graphics. Coordinating media relations. Providing administrative support and managing AFAMP sessions.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Administrative and Communications Support
- Take detailed notes during meetings or AFAMP sessions.
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations for internal and external use.
- Organize and ship project-related materials.
- Support event planning and coordination.
- Provide general administrative assistance as assigned.
Social Media Management
- Create and coordinate content for social media campaigns across platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and the AFAMP blog.
- Develop engaging photo captions and posts to promote AFAMP activities and events.
Report Writing
- Prepare reports after every session.
- Write project descriptions, corporate bios, and newsletters.
- Demonstrate proficiency in tools like MailChimp for e-newsletters and general email communications.
- Create PowerPoint presentations for meetings and events.
Photo, Video, and Graphic Design
- Edit and format photos and videos for web and social media.
- Perform basic photo, video, and audio editing.
- Design infographics to visually communicate key messages.
Media Relations
- Conduct interviews and prepare media reports on assigned subjects.
- Assist with drafting, editing, distributing press releases and media advisories.
- Coordinate media outreach and schedule photo/video shoots.
Requirements:
- A graduate in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, digital filmmaking, graphic design, digital media, or a related field.
- Demonstrates honesty, creativity, and self-motivation.
- Experience in at least three of the following areas: social media management, report writing, photo/video editing, graphic design, or media relations.
