Job Summary

The chief finance officer role is currently available at one of the fastest-growing real estate development companies in Abuja. The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is responsible for coordinating and managing all the financial activities of the company. Specifically, the CFO will have oversight over the finance, budgeting, risk management, accounting,

Job Description/Requirements

The CFO will have active oversight over the following: 

  • Setting up a well-run and highly efficient finance group that will effectively  manage the financial base of the company 
  • Shaping the financial strategy and developing the financial policy of the  organisation 
  • Aligning the financial and business strategy of the organisation 
  • Managing the accounts of the organisation 
  • Planning the budgets of the company and monitoring compliance
  • Analysing financial risk 
  • Developing an adequate risk management framework for the company
  • Producing accurate and timely financial reports for the organisation
  • Developing the company’s financial digitalization programme 
  • Providing strategic support to the chief supply chain officer and the chief  investment officer 
  • Working closely with the partners to raise funding and to structure deals and  transactions for the organisation

Experience  

  • Between 10-15 years of experience in finance, budgeting, accounting and risk  management with at least two of these years spent as a CFO or Deputy CFO,  preferably in at least one company with a minimum ten billion Naira balance  sheet size
  • Several years of experience managing the accounting department of a large  company 
  • Extensive experience compiling, analysing and filing financial statements
  • Possession of a good network with financial regulators and external auditors
  • Deep involvement with tax management 
  • Long oversight of complex teams 

IT knowledge 

  • High proficiency in Excel/Google spreadsheets 
  • Extensive knowledge of various digital collaborative tools 
  • Knowledge of financial accounting management finance and accounting software etc.

Education  

Compulsory: 

  • BSc in finance and or accounts or in economics, mathematics, statistics,  management or business studies (degrees in other social science courses or the humanities are acceptable as long as the applicant has a Master’s in finance and  or accounting and ICAN or ACCA qualifications) 
  • ICAN or ACCA qualifications 
  • The possession of these qualifications will be very beneficial to your application:
  • Master’s in either finance and or accounting 
  • Tax certifications 
  • CFA qualifications

Salary 

  • The salary is attractive with accompanying benefits. 

Languages, location etc. 

  • Fluency in English is compulsory 
  • Must be willing to live and work full time in Abuja 
  • The candidate should preferably not be older than 40 years old 
  • Experience working in the construction, real estate, mortgage banking or real  estate finance sectors is an advantage 
  • Familiarity with working in Northern Nigeria and Abuja is also an advantage
