Job Summary

LPLEL require an experienced BDM Executive to coordinate and oversee the business development and marketing in Lekki Port. Before the commence of operations, the team will need to be increase the BDM Executive manning for to be able to support operate and monitor 24hours x 365 days the entire container terminal. We are looking for an ambitious and energetic Business Development & Marketing Executive to help us expand our clientele. You will be the front of the company and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective marketing strategy.

Job Description/Requirements

The role will develop comprehensive business development strategy and proposal to attract customers to Lekki Port. For marketing, it will develop targeted strategy to cover road shows, exhibitions, conference, direct customers leads to promote Lekki Port, with a view to attract economies of scale and synergies, integrating across the business units and in collaboration with all other functions in Lekki Port so as to achieve business, volume and KPIs as directed by COO & OM of the company.


  • Develops and maintains long-lasting and meaningful relationships with state and local entities, port authorities, and key port tenants as well as industry teaming partners; collaborating to find solutions to challenging port and maritime development projects.

  • Supports regional marketing, road shows, conference events/programs, teaming partnerships and client engagement activities to implement business development initiatives.

  • Develop a robust pipeline of work, with a win rate above industry average.

  • Monitors market conditions, innovations and trends, and competitors' performance, pricing and sales strategies to maximize competitive stance.

  • Leads and/or supports capture teams in pursuit planning; development of win themes; and preparation of compelling proposals, presentations, and marketing materials. 

  • Conduct opportunity and client research.

  • Leads company capabilities presentations with customers; attend seminars and industry events.

  • Assist COO and Operations Mgr with developing client relationships.

  • Participation in industry and client organizations as a strategic part of client development.

  • Work with COO in the development of collateral pieces and client submittals, as needed.

  • Work with Operations and Project staff to enhance the company's client relationships across Operations and Project staffing levels.

  • Maintain client contacts and opportunities in the CRM and SharePoint systems.

  • Track goals and produce internal reports, as needed.

  • Develop client relationships through face to face meetings.

  • Maintain familiarity with a variety of maritime port development concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills expected.

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others.

  • May report to an executive or a manager.

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field. Masters degree will be a plus.

  • Proven 5+ years working experience as a business development manager, sales executive or a relevant role

  • Strong and Convincing personality, with a sense of urgency, can persuade customer

  • Good knowledge of Nigeria Market with Proven sales track record

  • Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint and CRM software

  • Proficiency in English

  • Market knowledge

  • Excellent Communication, Presentation and Negotiation skills required

  • Ability to build rapport
